Beginning Tuesday May 02, 2017 the Scranton Police Department will be conducting a Junior Police Academy at Scranton Police Headquarters. Each academy session is comprised of 25 youth in 8th through 12th grades. The five week sessions are held at Scranton Police Headquarters for five consecutive Tuesdays from 6-8 pm. This is a free program for our youth and a chance to build upon our police-community partnerships within the city of Scranton. Applications will be available on our website, Facebook Page (“Be Part of The Solution”) and can also be picked up in person at Scranton Police Headquarters.
The mission of the Scranton Police Junior Police Academy is to enrich our agency’s connections with the youth of Scranton and to foster lasting partnerships to motivate them to become responsible citizens.
The Junior Police Academy provides a comfortable setting allowing youth to interact on a personal level with Scranton Police Officers. This allows us to transform the traditional role of an officer into one of a mentor, neighbor, role model and friend. Students will receive insight into the functions of law enforcement and how the Scranton Police Department serves our community. We hope that you or someone you know will be interested in joining us for this program!
